Cat6 or Cat6A: which do you need?

Cat6 is the standard choice for most homes and offices. It handles Gigabit Ethernet comfortably, and it can run 10 Gigabit over shorter distances. Cat6A is the future-proof option: it supports 10 Gigabit speeds over the full 100 metre run and has better protection from interference, which makes it a good fit for busy offices, server rooms, WiFi access points and CCTV systems you want to keep for many years.

During your survey we explain the cost and benefit of each, so you only pay for the performance you need.

FAQs

Common questions

What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A?

Both work well for everyday networks. Cat6A supports 10 Gigabit over up to 100 metres and handles interference better, so it suits demanding or long-life installations.

Can you cable an existing building?

Yes. We plan routes through lofts, voids and trunking to keep disruption and visible cabling to a minimum.

Do my CCTV cameras need network cabling?

IP cameras use a network cable for both video and power (PoE). Good Cat6 or Cat6A cabling keeps them stable and easy to maintain.

Do you test and label the cabling?

Yes. Each cable is labelled and tested, and you receive a simple record of what goes where.
